BOX THINKING

To echo the majestic shape of the building RGB DMX strips and panels where installed along the length of the building with a static RGBW laser positioned to achieve an animated vanishing point.

The Elevation was the second venue in the country to have the Emulator DJ console, the first being the Ministry of Sound. The Console consists of a 42ich head up display that allows the customer to see exactly what the DJ is going through the display panel.

To carter for all ages and to give so much loved 80’s nostalgia to the cocktail bar a neon cocktail sign was Commissioned, inspired by the movie of the same title.

In order to meet the needs of the client and provide a multi-functional venue, intelligent moving head spotlights were installed. The ability to define and add atmosphere to the dancefloor through motion, coupled with the function of spot lighting the stage in a static position meant that live bands and acts could be illuminated at the touch of a button.

Utilising every surface of the venue video mapping was a logical step. The delivery of the visuals were achieved using ultra short throw media projectors in an extended canvas configuration. This meant that customers could walk or dance in front of the projected image with out blocking or casting a shadow. The configuration also allowed for animations to move 90 degrees around corners.

Repurposing existing 70s style LED dance floor to installing each unit into the suspended ceiling framework. This not only allowed the dance floor to be defined but enabled the panels to become a feature when not in use, as they were arranged in a chequerboard pattern.

The VIP lounge was defined with a RGBW custom laser and individual video mapping projection. With the pairing of controllable pin spots for each table and private dancefloor situated within the floor to ceiling glazed turret above the entrance of the venue.

Embracing health and safety and emergency procedure guidelines, architectural RGB lighting was added to every step of the main staircase. Doubling as a feature to set the atmosphere right from the entrance to the venue. In the event of a fire the lights would switch to white to illuminate the emergency exits. Often overlooked, other negative (dark area’s) such as the back displays behind the bar and the toilets were given the same attention adding to the overall atmosphere of the venue.

Culminating in the arrival on the dance floor the Boardwalk escorts all visitors to the venue right, into the heart of the electrically charged atmosphere. Subliminal visual aids such floorboards arranged in the same linier direction compliment the RGBW laser and RGB under bar illumination.

In conjunction with the 42ich head-up display that the Emulator console boasts, the projected image was duplicated using HDMI Matrix unit to deliver a 4K HD image that was projected onto the entire wall of the dance floor using a long throw media unit. This helped frame and defined the dancefloor, linking the DJ seamlessly with their audience.

Completing the responsive uses of mood lighting the entire rear wall of the DJ Booth consisted of custom RGB light box. Capturing the attention of the customer and framing the DJ with lighting that could be made sound responsive, echoing and following every energetic beat.
